Fabrication was the same as has been previously described. After forming, hole center locations were prick punched and drilled with a 1/16 OD drill. Hole edges and all edges were deburred.

A long piece of masking tape was used to establish a line between the inner most vortex generator on each wing. The gap center was marked and additional marks were placed at each 2-1/2 inch interval. Double sided tape was placed on the bottom of each vortex generator, and it was located on the fabric centered at one of the marks with the leading edge aligned to the masking tape edge. |
Needles were passed down through the holes and the fabric. One is pressed through further than the other to make it easier to slide the re-enforcement button into place.

Double sided tape was placed on the re-enforcement button top surface, and it was slid up over the needles and pressed against the cloth. The needles were moved to the next vortex generator, and the process continued until all re-enforcement buttons were in place.

Woven fifty pound fish line and a needle was used to tie the vortex generator, fabric, and re-enforcement button together. The beginning of a square knot was made, and quick setting epoxy was dabbed onto the knot. When the epoxy became very tacky, the fish line was put under tension and then the square knot was completed. Additional epoxy was dabbed onto the completed knot and on the over the cross over point to help keep the vortex generator from working the cloth. After the epoxy was firmly set, the excess fish line was trimmed away.

The finished product. These vortex generators will help the air to flow better around the engine. And hopefully, they will help pass more air through the bottom of the radiator when climbing.

Pattern mod's were made to ensure that vortex generators mounted on the wing soft gap seal would remain in place. The little crosses represent hole center locations through which fifty pound woven fish line could be passed. The round pieces were designed to be placed on the opposite side of the fabric, so that the fabric is sandwiched in-between the round piece and the vortex generator.
