Five Gallon Tank Scale
With the Victor 1+ using much less fuel, the original markings on the gas tank were too large and I was having difficulty estimating fuel usage. The scale was laid out based on twelve inches was equivalent to five gallons with the smallest graduation one tenth of a gallon. The scale was inverted so that one can readily read how much fuel has been used from a full tank.
The scale was formed up using CAD software and printed out on white paper. Two transparencies were made so that a scale could be placed on each side of the tank. The tank was filled, and the scales were positioned on the tank so that zero coincided with the upper fuel level with the FireFly in the three point position. The scales will be covered with clear packaging tape so that dirt, etc. cannot get between the scale and tank.
Since I check the tank level after returning to the hangar, I could get by with one scale. But if one is at some other location, both scales can be read and averaged to get a more accurate tank reading.
With the smallest graduation being one tenth of a gallon, one can accurately estimate to the nearest .05 gallon.
