Mounting Voltage Regulator

Originally, I mounted the voltage regulator with the bottom up on the bottom side of the motor mount tube, but the vibration was too great and the two rivets I used could not carry the regulator weight in tension. This method puts four rivets in shear. Before mounting, excess material was cut away to save and reduce the suspended weight.

I received a comment that I should heat sink the back of the regulator to keep it from burning up. I placed a temperature pickup on the back of the regulator and checked the temperature rise during some static engine run up tests. I found the regulator surface temperature increased fourteen degrees when the engine was running 6000 rpm. The only electrical load on the regulator was the strobe lights.
