Wheel & Brake Assembly Brakes on four inch plastic wheels. The brake drums were made from Tiawan bicycle brake drums mounted on the wheels with spacers and their centers removed. The 1/4 inch diameter wheel bolts were replaced with 5/16 inch diameter studs. The reaction plates were made from brass kitchen sink drains. The flanges were removed and an aluminum washer was placed into the drain. Three socket head cap screws were put through the washer to sandwich the drain bottom to a steel split collar that slides onto the wheel axle. A simple band brake was attached to the reaction plate. Leather band lining material is glued to the aluminum band using JB Weld epoxy.
